Three Ways To Pass The Time In An Infrared Sauna

by Melinda Hawkins

If you've learned about a local spa that is equipped with infrared saunas and you're interested in enjoying the many health benefits that saunas can offer, one thing that might be on your mind is how you'll pass the time during each sauna session. While there are lots of people who are content to simply sit quietly for the duration of their session, others can find this idea to be challenging. If you're the type of person who has trouble sitting and doing nothing, you should come up with some ideas about what you'll do. Fortunately, there are a handful of things that you can do to pass the time, including these three activities.

Meditation

Spending time in an infrared sauna is an experience that is deeply relaxing, and meditation is an activity that works well when you're relaxed. If you're new to meditation, short sessions will generally be a good option for you. There are all sorts of guided meditations that you can find online, so look for one that appeals to you and practice it a few times outside of the sauna. When you're ready to try meditating in the sauna, you can enter and then go through the meditation routine in your head.

Yoga

While working out vigorously in a sauna isn't advisable, you might wish to perform some yoga poses in this hot environment. The popularity of hot yoga means that countless people visit yoga studios to perform yoga while they sweat. When you visit an infrared sauna, you'll have this ability without needing to follow an instructor. Infrared sauna sessions are generally on the shorter side, but you'll have plenty of time to work your way through a sequence of poses. Look online to learn a few poses that you can modify to perform while seated.

Reading

While some people take their smartphones into the sauna with them, the hot environment isn't ideal necessarily for these electronic devices. If you're planning to leave your phone outside the sauna, one way to entertain yourself during your session is to read. A lot of people complain that they don't have enough time in the day to read. For example, you might plan to read a little before bed, but find that you're frequently too tired at this point in the day. A sauna session will give you some uninterrupted reading time, which can be desirable. Visit a local spa to learn more about its infrared sauna treatments.
